In an effort to improve the passenger experience and improve its operations, SCASPA partnered with International Air Transport Association (IATA) to include on the Airline Tickets all passengers fees.
The passenger fees comprise of:
- Island Enhancement Fund (IEF) payable to St. Kitts Tourism Authority – US$12
- Environment Levy, payable to Solid Waste Management Corporation – US$3
- Airport Charge payable to SCASPA on departing passengers – US$22
- Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) payable to SCASPA on arriving passengers – US10
The fees are collected by IATA and remitted to SCASPA less a commission for further distribution to the other Government Entities.
This arrangement became effective in 2010 first with the implementation of the PFC on the Airline Tickets and this was followed by the other passenger fees in 2011. This move has eliminated the need for passengers to stand in long lines to pay relevant charges after having collected their boarding passes at the check-in counters at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
