Students, teachers and community members came out last evening at 7: 00 p.m. to support twenty four (24) students who participated in the first night of elimination of SCASPA’s Best in Class High School Quiz Competition.
Academic giants from Basseterre High, Cayon High, Charles E. Mills Secondary, Saddlers Secondary, Verchilds High and Washington Archibald High demonstrated throughout the keenly contested evening their academic abilities. The participants were quizzed on English Language, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Local History and Geography, Current Affairs and SCASPA’s operations. After a two-hour battle, Basseterre High School scored eighty-eight (88) points, Verchilds High scored sixty (60), Washington Archibald High, twenty-three (23) points, Saddlers Secondary School, twenty (20) points and Charles E. Mills Secondary, eighteen (18) points; the journey for students from the Cayon High School ended; the school was eliminated from the Competition with a total of five (5) points.
The exciting competition continues on May 8, 2014 at 7: 00 p.m. at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank where Basseterre High, Charles E. Mills Secondary, Saddlers Secondary, Verchilds High and Washington Archibald High will compete for a place in the Grand Finals.
