Basseterre, St. Kitts – May 30th, 2016 (SCASPA): On Tuesday May 24, 2016, the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank was filled to capacity as teachers, students, parents, and supporters of the seven high schools on St. Kitts witnessed the prowess of Charles E. Mills as they captured the title SCASPA’s Best In Class Champions 2016.

Charles E. Mills, the first holders of the title, came up against Basseterre High School, the four-peat holders of said title, The teams were quizzed in individual, team and speed rounds in the areas of English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Local History and Geography, Current Affairs, SCASPA Affairs, and Wild category.

The evening with its pomp and circumstance was filled with excitement and intense competitiveness. At the end, the Charles E. Mills Secondary School captured the first place position in the Quiz competition, and was dubbed as SCASPA’s Best In Class Quiz Competition Champion 2016!
The winning team of Alaynah Mitchell, Tecoya Warner, Sativa Dickenson and Chauntia Thomas, amassed a total score of one hundred and five (105) points, while the Basseterre High School’s – Zidane Knight, Abion Stevens, Anusuyah Bhoojraj and Tairique Davis, finished in second place with a total score of ninety-five (95) points.
A representative of the winning team, Tecoya Warner stated, “I am very happy with my school’s performance. We made sure we targeted our strong area in the rounds and we came out successful.”

This year’s quiz bloomed first time occurrences when Zidance Knight and Tecoya Warner both tied for the title of Most Outstanding Students. Basseterre High School won the accumulative SCASPA Round and was awarded the luxury of a tour and lunch on a Carnival Cruise ship.

The Board of Directors, The Management Team and Staff of St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority extend congratulations to all the schools and supporters of this year’s event as we work harder towards a bigger and better Best in Class High School Quiz Competition 2017.
