Bird Rock, St. Kitts, November 22, 2013 (SCASPA): Christmas has come early for the students and staff members of the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive Primary School, after the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) donated a monetary contribution of $1000 to assist in the purchasing of a state-of-the-art projector.
In the handing over ceremony held on November 22, 2013, Ms. Dentrecia Blanchette, Public Relations Officer of SCASPA, registered SCASPA’s commitment to helping schools enhance the educational experience they provide to students.
“Education is a priority for the Authority and when we were contacted by the school to purchase a projector, we could not allow the opportunity to pass to assist the school. This is an investment we fully endorse because we recognize that technology has become an integral part in classroom dynamics. We are pleased to partner with this school and we assure you that SCASPA will continue to work with this elite school in the future.”
After receiving the cheque, Principal of the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School, Mrs. Charmaine Blanchette commented, “Our Christmas has started, our first Santa Clause is here! We want to thank SCASPA very much for its kind donation. Last year you donated and we bought some fans to keep our classrooms cool and this year we will purchase a digital projector that will assist our teachers in teaching. Thank you very much for your support in education.”
The thousand dollar donation is part of SCASPA’s Primary School Adoption Program that was initiated in 2011. The Authority has adopted 18 government schools on the island and has partnered with each school on several occasions and generously assisted each school in being fully equipped with the resources needed to provide quality education.
