The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) partnered with Windsor University to host a free Health Check Day on Friday, September, 26, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport and Deep Water Port in Bird Rock.
The event, which was planned with a holistic health focus, was part of the Authority’s 21st Anniversary celebration.
According to reports from Windsor University, over seventy stakeholders and members of the general public took the opportunity to check their health while on SCASPA’s premises. Services that were offered included, general health surveys including personal and family health history; vital signs examination which includes blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate examinations; basic head to toe assessments; systemic functions examinations which include cardiovascular and respiratory systems; blood glucose testing and counseling on nutrition, contraception, smoking cessation, alcohol abuse, physical activity, and other health promotion topics.
Mrs. Elizabeth Stephens, Registered Nurse of Windsor University expressed appreciation to SCASPA for partnering with Windsor University.
“We wish to thank SCASPA for inviting our Students for Health group out there at the seaport and airport. The students enjoyed it and appreciated the opportunity to use their growing skills. We would love to continue to partner with the SCASPA in the future.”
Staff members of SCASPA also took advantage of the free health checks throughout the day.
