Basseterre, St. Kitts, Wednesday 18th November, 2015 – In an effort to identify and implement new route opportunities while maximizing the potential reach of our air service network at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport, SCASPA spearheaded a two-day Routes Development training course at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel.
The course was preceded by a vibrant and rhythmic welcoming cocktail ceremony with cultural performance by the Okolo Tegramantine Drum and Dance group on Monday evening, 16th November, 2015.
Basking in the ambiance of the cultural performance were the Minister responsible for Public Infrastructure, Posts, Urban Development and transport – Honourable Ian “Patches” Liburd; Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce – Honourable Lindsay Fitzpatrick Grant and Chairman of SCASPA’s board Mr. Don Boncamper and other board members. Also present were SCASPA’s staff and delegates of the training course.
On Tuesday 17th November 2015 the training course began with ASM facilitators Tony Griffin of the UK and David Appleby of the USA delving into the state and realities of the industry and the expectations of each delegate in attendance. Participants of this training included our very own Dannielle Weekes of the Tourism Authority; Mr. Darren Sutton, Nevis Airport Manager ( Ag.), Tuffida Stewart, SCASPA’s Chief Accountant and Theodore Phipps, SCASPA’s Airport Manager (Ag.).
The Fundamental of Route Development is a training session branched from a group of Airport Strategy & Marketing consultants that form a mix of airport and airline backgrounds. Their combined experience reflects the full range of route development techniques.
The training ended on Wednesday 18th November 2015 with the distribution of certificates to delegates and informative packed island tour.
