“Lean on me, when you’re not strong, I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on…” Was the tune of action this weekend at SCASPA’s Deep Water Harbor in Bird Rock St. Kitts as many assisted in the Dominica Tropical Storm Relief Outreach on Saturday 29th August 2015.
The relief programme took quick action after a very unexpected and unwelcoming passing of Tropical Storm Erika severely damaging the island of Dominica. Erika’s aftermath resulted in major landslides, demolished roads, lost of housing, heart throbbing deaths and missing individuals. As a corporate citizen of our federation SCASPA felt the need to assist our neighboring island of Dominica.
On the morning of Saturday 29th August, citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis, the business community, nongovernmental organizations, Rotarians and SCASPA workers ventured into the vast preparation of assistance to Dominica. By Saturday evening MV Miss Abigail docked our shores and was loaded with 4 flat beds of cargo. Of this cargo was water, toiletries, food and other necessities in aid of this unfortunate event to the people of the nature isles.
A stacked MV Miss Abigail Departed the shores of St. Kitts in the peak morning of Sunday 30th August at 3:00 a.m on a safe journey of relief to Dominica.
The vessel arrived safely in Portsmouth, Dominica 5:30 pm yesterday August 30th. Distribution is expected to continue into the capital, Roseau Dominica sometime midday today August 31st.
