09Basseterre, St. Kitts, Wednesday 9th December 2015 – The 2015/2016 cruise season continues to look promising as an extended branch from the P&O Cruise line – MS Britannia docked at our shores yesterday, Tuesday 8th December 2015.
In a plaque exchange ceremony held on the ship, Marva Burroughs , SCASPA’s Corporate Affairs Manager extended sincere thanks to Captain Paul Brown for considering St. Kitts a destination in the MS Britannia’s itinerary.
Also in attendance were Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Ms. Racquel Browne, representatives from the St. Kitts and Nevis Police Department, Immigration representatives and Donald Cable of Delisle Walwyn & Co. Ltd. the ship’s agent.
In acceptance of the award, Captain Brown mentioned though this may have been MS Britannia’s inaugural call he has been to St. Kitts quite a few times before…
“St. Kitts is one of my personal favorite places to visit. I have been visiting St. Kitts for over 20 years. It is good to see all the development that has happened over the years. I remember the devastation that you experienced with the old pier to the development of this current pier and I sure do look forward to the construction of the new pier in the future.”
MS Britannia holds a capacity of 4000 passengers, crew non-inclusive. The ship has a wide variety of entertainment such as a Casino; few mini amphitheaters where one in particular called The Headliners Theatre can hold up to 940 passengers.
The P&O cruise line is expected to make 30 calls this cruise season; 2 have already been made, with a promising 28 remaining calls of which MS Britannia is expected to make 7 calls to St. Kitts.
