The Immaculate Conception Catholic School captures title “Best in Class Champions 2017”

Bird Rock, Basseterre, St. Kitts (Monday 29th May 2017) – On May 25th, 2017, teachers, students, parents, and supporters of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School (ICCS) and the Basseterre High School (BHS) converged in a packed auditorium to vie for the title of Best In Class Champions 2017.  ICCS walked away with the title.

It was all about who wanted it more since both teams ably participated in  all the rounds to include English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Local History & Geography, Current Affairs, SCASPA Affairs and the unpredictable Wild Round.  ICCS for the first time, since the inception of the competition in 2011, captured the title. The title carries with it a monetary award of XCD 1,500 for the school, XCD 375 each for the four member team, cases of mixed juice and Dasani bottled water form sponsors Koscab St. Kitts Limited, a rotating trophy and a winning trophy for placement in the school.

The winning team which consisted of Khalid Francis (Leader), Erin Etienne (Seconder), Ashley Franks and Sudheeksha Venkatesh (Lifelines), won with a total score of eighty points (80) over their contender’s fifty (50) points for the evening.

Basseterre High School’s, Vidonje Richardson (Leader), Joel Dookhie (Seconder), Amy Rawlins and Zuwena Bennett (Lifelines) finished in second place  and walked away with individual and school cash prizes amounting to XCD 2,000.  Additionally, Vidonje Richardson snagged the cash prize for XCD1,000  for the highest scoring student in the entire competition.

Though the Charles E. Mills Secondary School placed third in the competition this year, they were triumphant in amassing the highest accumulated score in the SCASPA Rounds with a total of seventy-five points (75) and was awarded the prize of a tour and lunch onboard a Carnival Cruise vessel.

Richards; SCASPA’s Chief Executive Officer; Mr. Denzil James; SCASPA’s Chairperson Mr. Don M. Boncamper and other board members and Marketing and Sales Manager of Koscab St. Kitts Limited, Mr. Conrod Senior – Floors sponsors of the 2017 Best in Class competition.

SCASPA’s Best in Class High School quiz competition has over the years raised SCASPA’s profile among students, generate greater understanding of and appreciation for SCASPA’s role in national development, promote educational activities especially among the youth and provide a forum for healthy academic competition among students.
