SCASPA’s Meteorological Office collaborated with the Department of Physical Planning and Environment and hosted a Weather and Climate Change Symposium for teachers within the government primary and high schools on September 12, 2014 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Customs and Excise Department Conference Room. The facilitators are Senior Meteorological Officer of SCASPA, Mr. Elmo Burke and Environmental Officer of the department of Physical Planning and Environment, Ms. Cheryl Jeffers.

Twenty-four (24) teachers evaluated regional and local issues, risks and responsibilities surrounding climate change and global warming. The participants also received current, student friendly knowledge on climate and weather, provide fresh insight on the issues and assist SCASPA and the Department of Physical Planning and Environment in finding solutions and measures to mitigate human related impacts on climate.
